[Exhibition] PATHFINDER Participates in Digital Media Tech Show 2025 (DMTS)
■Introducing the DRAW-LINK Test Version at DMTS 2025
FUNNYBON, a developer of immersive XR·VR content and spatial technologies, participated in Digital Media Tech Show 2025 (DMTS 2025) under its former name, PATHFINDER. The event was held at KINTEX in Ilsan from November 5 to 7, 2025.
At the exhibition, the company introduced a test version of DRAW-LINK, an experimental spatial drawing content experience that allows users to draw text and images in the air using hand gestures while viewing the real environment through an XR headset.
At the time, DRAW-LINK was not a commercially released product. It was still under development and was presented to evaluate the potential of spatial drawing, gather user feedback, and better understand market interest and possible applications.
■Testing a New Way to Draw in Physical Space
DRAW-LINK was developed as an experimental XR content experience using passthrough technology, allowing users to see their physical surroundings while drawing directly in space with hand gestures.
The main objective was to explore whether the physical environment itself could function as a drawing surface, moving beyond conventional screen-based or flat-display interfaces.
The test version also used hand-based interaction instead of requiring a separate controller, allowing the team to evaluate whether even first-time XR users could intuitively understand and interact with the content.
At this stage, both the functionality and interaction methods were still being developed, and the exhibition provided an opportunity to test overall usability and identify potential application environments.
■Evaluating Market Response Before Commercial Release
The primary purpose of participating in DMTS 2025 was not to announce the commercial launch of DRAW-LINK, but to present an early-stage test version and observe real-world user reactions.
Visitors were able to try the content firsthand, allowing the team to observe how easily users understood hand-based interaction, how they responded to spatial drawing, and what types of applications they imagined for the experience.
Discussions with buyers and industry professionals also provided insights into potential applications in education, exhibitions, events, tourism, and other experience-based environments.
The feedback collected during the event became a valuable reference for reviewing and improving the direction, interaction methods, and potential use cases of future spatial content.
■Focusing on User Experience, Not Just Technology
The goal of testing DRAW-LINK was not simply to demonstrate a new XR technology.
The team wanted to understand whether the process of looking at a physical space, moving naturally, and creating content with one’s own hands could offer an intuitive and differentiated XR experience.
At the time, PATHFINDER was developing content around the idea that technology should contribute to people and society, focusing on interaction that connects naturally with human behavior and physical environments rather than simply reproducing physical tools in digital form.
DRAW-LINK was one of the early experimental projects developed to test this direction.
■Continuing Spatial Content Development Through Field Testing
At DMTS 2025, the DRAW-LINK test version was introduced to real users, allowing the team to gather early feedback and identify areas for improvement in spatial drawing experiences.
The lessons from the exhibition were later used as reference when reviewing interaction methods, user experience, multi-user participation, and possible application areas for spatial content.
FUNNYBON has continued to develop technologies and content based on the idea that physical space can serve not only as a background, but as an active environment for participation and interaction.
Building on these development experiences, the company is currently developing and advancing spatial content such as PIN-CANVAS, exploring applications across education, exhibitions, tourism, events, and other real-world environments.
