[Education] PATHFINDER Hosts XR·VR Media Open Class at Haja Center

■XR·VR and New Media Education for Youth

FUNNYBON, a developer of immersive XR·VR content and spatial technologies, conducted an XR·VR Media Open Class for young participants at Haja Center (Seoul Youth Hub for Future Careers) under its former name, PATHFINDER.

The program was designed as an introductory, hands-on class where participants could experience virtual reality firsthand and learn the basic concepts and differences between VR, AR, MR, and extended reality (XR).

Rather than focusing only on using new devices, the class combined simple theory with practical experiences so that young participants could better understand emerging media technologies and explore their potential relevance to future careers and digital content.

■Hands-On XR Education at Haja Center

Haja Center is a youth career platform that supports young people in exploring their own paths through a wide range of experiences and opportunities.

Around 10 young participants joined the program, learning basic concepts related to XR technologies and devices while experiencing different types of immersive content.

Instead of explaining XR only through theory, participants wore headsets, interacted with digital content, and directly experienced how virtual, augmented, and mixed reality technologies work in practice.

■Introductory Media Class Covering VR, AR, and MR

The open class was designed so that even participants with little or no previous experience with XR could easily take part.

The program included:

Program 1. VR Visual Impairment Experience
Participants experienced virtual reality through BLIND SIMULATOR and explored how VR can communicate space and situations through immersive interaction.

Program 2. Understanding Virtual Reality and New Media
Participants learned how VR and emerging digital media differ from conventional video media and explored how new media environments may continue to evolve.

Program 3. Augmented Reality (AR) Experience
Participants experienced how digital information and content can be overlaid onto physical environments through AR.

Program 4. Mixed Reality (MR) Experience
Participants explored MR environments where physical and virtual elements coexist and interact, helping them understand the broader possibilities of XR technology.

■Understanding XR Through Direct Experience

Concepts such as XR, VR, AR, and MR can feel unfamiliar or difficult to understand when first introduced.

For this reason, the class focused less on technical explanations and more on helping participants understand the technologies naturally by seeing, moving, and interacting with immersive content.

The participants actively engaged with the different XR experiences and were able to better understand the differences and characteristics of each technology through hands-on participation.

The program once again demonstrated that combining explanation with direct experience can be an effective way to increase young learners’ understanding of and interest in emerging technologies.

■Expanding XR Content into Youth Education and Career Exploration

FUNNYBON continues to explore ways to use XR technology not only as a one-time experience, but also as educational content that can help young people understand new media, strengthen digital literacy, and explore future career opportunities.

Experiencing virtual, augmented, and mixed reality firsthand can provide young learners with a new way to understand the future of media, technology, and content industries.

FUNNYBON plans to continue developing experiential XR·VR education programs that make emerging technologies easier and more engaging to understand across schools, youth institutions, and public organizations.
