[Lecture] FUNNYBON Hosts “Startup Story by an Experienced Founder” at Masan Technical High School

■ FUNNYBON Shares Real-World Experience from Spatial Computing to Entrepreneurship and Commercialization

FUNNYBON, a developer of spatial computing technologies and XR content, held a “Startup Story Lecture by an Experienced Founder” for students in the entrepreneurship club at Masan Technical High School on November 4.

The program was held in the school’s first-floor multipurpose room and consisted of an approximately one-hour lecture followed by team-based mentoring focused on the students’ individual interests and business ideas.

Rather than simply introducing the process of starting a company, FUNNYBON used its own real-world cases to explain how technology develops into actual products and services, and how those products can eventually connect to a viable business.

■ From Changes in Media to Spatial Computing

The lecture began by exploring how the media environment has evolved and how XR and spatial computing technologies are currently being used.

Students were introduced to the concepts and differences between XR, VR, AR, and MR, as well as examples of how these technologies are being applied across education, tourism, exhibitions, public services, and industrial environments.

Instead of defining technical terms only through explanation, the session used actual content videos and case studies to help students understand how emerging technologies connect with physical spaces and change the way people experience digital content.

■ Understanding Technology Commercialization Through FUNNYBON Products

The lecture also introduced FUNNYBON’s products, including PIN-CANVAS, PIN-GUIDE, and BLIND SIMULATOR, as real examples of technology commercialization.

Through PIN-CANVAS, students learned how physical spaces can be extended into environments where digital content can be created and shared. PIN-GUIDE was used to explain how spatial location and information can be connected to guide user movement and actions, while BLIND SIMULATOR demonstrated how VR technology can be developed into experiential and educational content.

The students also explored the FUNNYBON website to see how a technology idea can develop into a product, go through PoC and real-world field applications, and eventually connect to an actual business.

The goal was to encourage students to think beyond technology as a feature or idea and consider what problem it solves, who it serves, and what value it can create.

■ Connecting Startup Experience with Career Exploration Through Team Mentoring

Following the lecture, team-based mentoring sessions were held to allow for closer communication with the students.

The students shared their startup ideas and areas of interest, and together we discussed what they would need to consider in order to develop those ideas into actual products or services.

The mentoring also covered career opportunities in XR, content, and technology, practical skills needed in the field, and the process of developing a product and bringing it to market.

■ From Learning Technology to Creating with It

Through this lecture, FUNNYBON aimed to show students that emerging technologies are not only something to experience, but also tools they can use to develop their own ideas and explore future career paths.

Spatial computing and XR are still rapidly evolving fields, making it important not only to learn about new technologies, but also to build experience through experimentation, trial, and even failure.

FUNNYBON will continue sharing its technology development and startup experience through schools, educational institutions, and youth programs, while expanding educational and mentoring activities that help students connect emerging technologies and content with their own future career paths.
