[Forum] PATHFINDER Participates in the Glocal University 30 – 2025 PNU EdTech ICC Forum
■Sharing the Future of VR·XR-Based Education at the PNU EdTech ICC Forum
FUNNYBON, a developer of VR·XR content and spatial technologies, participated in the Glocal University 30 – 2025 PNU EdTech ICC Forum under its former name, PATHFINDER. The event was held on January 9, 2026 at Park Hyatt Busan.
The forum was jointly organized by Pusan National University, the Pusan National University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, the Regional Innovation Capacity Education Research Center, and EDUTECH ICC. It brought together universities, research institutions, and companies to discuss technology-driven innovation in education and the future development of regional education ecosystems.
FUNNYBON participated as a VR·XR content company, sharing perspectives on how experience and immersion can create new value in education and how emerging technologies can expand learning environments and student engagement.
■Exploring the Potential of EdTech Through Experience and Immersion
Applying digital technology to education is not simply about introducing new devices.
What matters is creating an environment where learners can see, move, interact, and understand through direct experience. VR·XR technologies can provide one way to build this type of experiential learning environment.
Through youth education and hands-on programs using VR·XR content, FUNNYBON has continued to confirm that the most important factor is not the technology itself, but what learners experience and what they are able to understand through that experience.
At the forum, FUNNYBON shared these insights and discussed the potential of immersive content and experience-based learning in future education.
■Connecting Regional Education, Industry, and Technology
At the forum, Shin Hyesung, CEO of PATHFINDER at the time, emphasized the importance of regionally driven education innovation.
“If experience-centered educational environments, such as special education districts, become established in local communities, they can create a virtuous cycle in which education, industry, and technology are naturally connected. PATHFINDER aims to expand the possibilities of education through technology within that process.”
When schools, universities, companies, and research institutions are connected within a region, new technologies and content can be applied directly in educational settings.
This can provide learners with a wider range of educational experiences while also creating opportunities for local industries and talent to grow together.
Based on international education cases and its own experience operating XR content, FUNNYBON also shared ideas on how experience-centered education could connect with regional education ecosystems.
■From VR·XR Content to Experiential Education
VR·XR technologies can provide learning experiences that differ from traditional lecture-based education by allowing learners to directly participate in digital environments and content.
Virtual reality can support simulated social and career experiences, augmented reality can connect digital information with physical environments, and mixed reality can enable more interactive forms of learning.
FUNNYBON plans to continue applying VR·XR technologies in educational environments to create learner-centered experiential education and empathy-based learning experiences, while expanding collaboration with schools, universities, public institutions, and other education partners.
Rather than simply demonstrating technology, FUNNYBON aims to create educational experiences where learners can actively participate, understand, and discover new possibilities.
